PARBAT: The Maldhunga-Beni road will be closed to vehicular traffic for 13 days to facilitate black-topping works.
This road section is part of the Kaligandaki corridor highway, a national pride project connecting the north and south borders.
Currently, only the five-kilometer Maldhunga-Pharse section is being blacktopped out of the 13-kilometer Maldhunga-Beni road, according to the Kaligandaki Corridor Maldhunga-Beni-Jomsom-Korala Road Project Office.
Once the Maldhunga-Pharse section is completed in the first phase, seven kilometers of the road will remain to be asphalted.
An all-party meeting held at the District Administration Office decided to close the road to traffic, except for essential service vehicles such as ambulances, for 13 days starting tomorrow, June 22.
Drivers are urged to use alternative routes during this period.
The Office stated that the black-topping work would be completed within 13 days, weather permitting.
