Couple murdered: Ekendra chose robbery to pay his debt



KATHMANDU: A couple was murdered during a robbery at Tinkutte in Maha Bharat Rural Municipality-4 of the Kavrepalanchok district.

The District Police Office in Kavre held a press conference on Wednesday, announcing the arrest of Ekendra Sarki, 38, for the murders of Man Bahadur Bal and his wife, Kekai Maya Tamang.

According to SP Basundara Khadka, Sarki is originally from Jugal Rural Municipality-1 of Sindhupalchok.

Following the murder, the police launched “Operation Maha Bharat” to apprehend the culprit.

The police revealed that household equipment and an iron rod were used in the killing.

After committing the murders, Ekendra stole gold ornaments, recharge cards, and some money, according to the preliminary police investigation.

In his statement, Ekendra confessed that he chose robbery as a means to pay his debt, which ultimately led to the murder of the couple.
