Budget aims to develop nation as IT Hub in next decade: PM Dahal
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ announced that the budget for the upcoming fiscal year aims to develop the nation as an information technology (IT) hub over the next decade. Speaking at the ‘Digital Nepal Conclave 2024,’ organized by the ICT Foundation today, the Prime Minister outlined the government’s goal to export IT services worth Rs 3,000 billion in the next fiscal year, creating 500,000 direct employment opportunities and one million indirect jobs in the IT sector.
Deuba urges Lingden to support CM Pandey in confidence vote
Sher Bahadur Deuba, President of the Nepali Congress (NC), has urged Rajendra Lingden, Chairman of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), to support Surendra Raj Pandey, Chief Minister of Gandaki Province, in his upcoming vote of confidence on June 10. CM Pandey, who previously lost his majority in the provincial assembly, visited Kathmandu to discuss the vote of confidence and announced his intention to seek the vote soon after his return. Pandey was appointed to his position after the Supreme Court declared the confidence vote process of former CM Khagraj Adhikari unconstitutional, thereby relieving him of his post.
SC schedules full hearing on Ncell’s writ for June 11
The Supreme Court (SC) has scheduled the full hearing on the writ petition filed by Ncell, a private mobile service provider company, for June 11.The division bench comprising Justices Prakash Kumar Dhungana and Sunil Kumar Pokharel set the full hearing date during the session on Friday. Ncell’s writ petition, filed against the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, has been marked for an expedited hearing.

Chief Minister (CM) of Gandaki Province, Surendra Raj Pandey, is set to seek a vote of confidence on June 10. CM Pandey plans to introduce the budget, policies, and programs only after securing this vote. Previously, CM Pandey lost his majority in the provincial assembly and visited Kathmandu to discuss the vote of confidence.
NTA issues 15-day ultimatum to United Telecom to clear Rs 7.42 billion arrears
The Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA) has given a 15-day ultimatum to United Telecommunication Limited to settle the arrears of Rs 7.42 billion. In a public notice issued today, NTA directed United to settle the outstanding payment of Rs 7.42 billion in accordance with the terms and conditions of the basic telephony service license.

The CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli has expressed dissatisfaction with the political instability prevailing in the country. Balmandir land scam: NCO’s former Vice President Tulsi Narayan Shrestha arrested
Tulsi Narayan Shrestha, former Vice President of the Nepal Children’s Organization (NCO), has been arrested in connection with the Balmandir land scam in Naxal, Kathmandu. The arrest was made on Friday by a team from the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police. Shrestha faces allegations of repeatedly causing financial losses to the NCO and the government by leasing land at undervalued rates from 1992 to 2015.
Newly appointed Madhesh Province CM Satish Singh sworn in
Satish Kumar Singh, the newly elected Chief Minister (CM) of Madhesh Province, took the oath of office and secrecy on Friday afternoon. Province Chief Sumitra Subedi Bhandari administered the oath to CM Singh. Singh was earlier appointed CM of the province with the support of six political parties, including the CPN-UML, CPN (Maoist Center), and CPN (Unified Socialist).
