NTA issues 15-day ultimatum to United Telecom to clear Rs 7.42 billion arrears



KATHMANDU: The Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA) has given a 15-day ultimatum to United Telecommunication Limited to settle the arrears of Rs 7.42 billion.

In a public notice issued today, NTA directed United to settle the outstanding payment of Rs 7.42 billion in accordance with the terms and conditions of the basic telephony service license.

According to the NTA, the United Telecom is yet to clear the installment amounting to Rs 7,429,337,337 towards license renewal fees, frequency fees, royalties, and Rural Telecommunication Development Fund, among others.

“It is hereby informed the service provider to settle the dues in accordance with the terms and conditions of the license renewal process, including the total outstanding amount of Rs 7,429,337,337 (remaining amount as of June 14), within 15 days from the publication date of this notice,” the notice stated.

NTA also warned that failure to clear the outstanding amount within the specified time frame could lead to the cancellation of the license under the Telecommunications Act, 2053 BS.
