Monsoon to become active in Nepal likely from Monday: Met office



KATHMANDU: The monsoon trough based in some south from Nepal’s Tarai region has started gradually moving back to Nepal from Saturday.

It will take a few more days for the monsoon to become active in Nepal. It means that a couple of days are awaited to see monsoon to be fully active again, the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology said.

Meteorologist Samir Shrestha said monsoon would become active from coming Monday. However, it would not become fully active at once but would follow a gradual process.

There will be generally cloudy weather throughout the country tonight with the chances of light to moderate rain at some places.

On Sunday, there will be partial to generally cloudy weather throughout the country and light to moderate rains at some places of the western region and at one or two places of the central and eastern region have been predicted.

In the weather forecast for the upcoming 24 hours, the Meteorological Forecasting Division has warned about the possibility of thundershower at some places and heavy rain at one or two places, calling for taking precautions.
