CIAA sues nine, including Godawari Mayor, in corruption cases
Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority has sued nine people, including Godawari Municipality Mayor Gajendra Maharjan on corruption allegations. According to assistant spokesperson of CIAA, Devi Prasad Thapaliya, Mayor Maharjan, Deputy Mayor Muna Adhikari, along with former chief administrative officer, former chief of revenue department of the municipality, and five directors of the companies have been accused of corruption involving five different cases.
KP Oli deflects allegations relating Giribandhu Tea Estate scam, urges to ask Mayor Balen Sah
CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli has directed reporters to inquire about his alleged involvement in the Giribandhu Tea Estate scam directly to Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balendra (Balen Sah. Addressing the media outside the Parliament building on Monday, the UML Chair responded succinctly, suggesting that reporters should seek clarification from Mayor Balen himself. Earlier, Mayor Sah had accused former Prime Minister Oli of attempting to cover up a scam worth Rs. 10 billion and misleading the public by diverting attention.
Two passengers die as river sweeps away jeep in Ilam
Two people died when a jeep they were traveling in was swept away by a river in Ilam. According to the police, the incident occurred in Chulachuli Rural Municipality-5, where a jeep was washed away by the Ratuwa River. The Bolero jeep was traveling from Larumba in Ilam to Damak when it was swept away. Police Chief of District Police Office Ilam, SP Prabhu Dhakal, stated that the bodies of a child and a woman were found in the jeep.

NC Vice President Gurung casts doubt on govt’s revenue collection target
Nepali Congress (NC) Vice President and lawmaker Dhanraj Gurung expressed doubts regarding the government’s ability to achieve its revenue collection target in the upcoming fiscal year. During the general deliberations on the estimations of government income (revenue) and expenditure in the fiscal year 2081-82 BS (2024-25) in a House of Representatives (HoR) meeting today, Gurung questioned whether revenue collections in the next year would meet the target of over Rs 1,260 billion.
Strong wind causes damage to banana farming in 2,500 bighas of land
The recurring incidents of wind of late have caused huge damage to banana farming in Chitwan. According to Chitwan Banana Producers’ Association chairperson Madhav Prasad Ghimire, the gusty winds occurring in the district for the past couple of days has damaged banana cultivated in 2,500 bighas of land. The erratic incident mostly caused damage to the banana farming in eastern Chitwan, Ghimire informed.
