Heat wave forecasted for coming three days in Terai region; govt urges caution

KATHMANDU: The Terai region of western Nepal is likely to experience extreme hot weather in the coming few days.

The government has urged residents of these areas to remain cautious.

The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has forecasted a heat wave for the Terai regions of Sudurpaschim and Lumbini provinces.

Some places in these regions have been recording maximum temperatures exceeding 40 degrees Celsius in recent days.

Extreme heat and humidity can be very uncomfortable and pose serious health risks, especially for infants, children, pregnant women, and the elderly.

Without taking proper precautions, extreme heat can lead to heat stroke and, in severe cases, fatality. Due to climate change, heat waves are becoming longer, more frequent, and more severe.
