Rainfall likely in Bagmati and Koshi, heat wave in Terai

KATHMANDU: The Weather Forecasting Division has reported a partial effect of Cyclone Remal in the eastern part of Nepal, along with the influence of local winds.

According to the Division, the weather is currently mostly clear in the hilly areas, including Koshi Province, and remains mostly clear in other provinces.

This afternoon, the weather will be partly to mostly cloudy in the hilly areas, including Koshi Province, while the rest of the areas will experience partly cloudy to mostly clear skies.

There is a possibility of light rain accompanied by thunder, lightning, and gusty winds in some hilly areas of Bagmati, Gandaki, and Koshi provinces.

Additionally, there is a chance of light snowfall in one or two places in the high hills and Himalayan areas of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki Provinces.

On the other hand, temperatures in some parts of the Terai region of the Sudurpaschim and Lumbini provinces have been measured at 40 degrees Celsius or higher for the past few days.

Due to the possibility of extreme heat in the Terai areas over the next few days, the Division has advised making necessary preparations and taking precautions.

The Division has forecasted the likelihood of hot air and heat waves in these areas until June 1.
