Bhutan’s Jigme Pelden Dorje climbs Mt. Everest

KATHMANDU: Pioneer Adventure, Nepal, announced that Lieutenant Jigme Pelden Dorje of the Royal Bhutan Army has become the first Bhutanese to summit Mt. Everest.

He reached the peak at 9:30 am today, with guide Chakra Rai and the support team.

Jigme started his ascent from Everest Base Camp on May 16, achieving a significant milestone for himself and Bhutan.

Pasang Sherpa, Chairman of Pioneer Adventure Pvt Ltd, expressed pride in the accomplishment, stating, “We are thrilled to have been part of Jigme’s historic climb. Our guides are dedicated to the success and safety of our climbers. Congratulations to Jigme for this extraordinary achievement.”

Jigme expressed his joy and national pride, saying, “Reaching the summit of Everest fills me with immense pride as a Bhutanese. This climb is a tribute to my country, our monarch, and our enduring spirit of exploration.”
