HoR meeting delayed until 4 pm

KATHMANDU: The meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) has been rescheduled to 4 pm following the refusal of the main opposition, Nepali Congress, to yield its stance.

The postponement comes in the wake of Speaker Devraj Ghimire’s failed attempts to forge an agreement with the Nepali Congress.

Originally slated for 11 am, the meeting’s timing was shifted due to the impasse.

The Speaker’s Secretariat cited the inability to reach a consensus as the reason behind the afternoon rescheduling.

Earlier, Speaker Ghimire engaged in a telephonic discussion with Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda to address the parliamentary obstruction issue.

Despite the Prime Minister’s assurance of ongoing efforts to reconcile with the Nepali Congress, no agreement could be reached.

The Nepali Congress maintains its demand for the formation of a parliamentary inquiry committee to probe Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane’s involvement in a cooperative fraud case as a prerequisite for Parliament’s progress.

As a result of NC’s stance, the discussion on the policies and programs for the upcoming fiscal year remains pending in Parliament.
