T20: Nepal playing third match against West Indies today

KATHMANDU: Nepal is playing against West Indies ‘A’ today, marking their third encounter in a riveting five-match T20 series.

With both teams deadlocked at one point apiece after two matches, the stakes couldn’t be higher as they vie for supremacy.

Scheduled for a 1 pm kickoff at the TU International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur, Nepal seeks to reclaim its winning momentum after a thrilling victory and a narrow defeat in the preceding matches.

In the first match played on Saturday, Nepal, after electing to field first, restricted West Indies to a challenging target of 205 runs.

Undeterred, Nepal chased down the total in dramatic fashion, reaching 206 runs with six wickets in hand and just two balls to spare.

Captain Rohit Kumar Paudel’s stellar century anchored Nepal’s triumphant pursuit, igniting jubilation among the home crowd.

However, Nepal faced a setback in the second match as they succumbed to a 10-run loss against West Indies ‘A’.

Despite a valiant effort to chase down a target of 161 runs, Nepal fell short, managing only 150 runs for the loss of nine wickets in their allotted 20 overs.

With the series finely poised, Nepal is determined to bounce back in today’s crucial fixture, aiming to tilt the balance in their favor.

As they brace for the fourth and fifth matches slated for Thursday and Saturday, respectively, this series serves as invaluable preparation ahead of the impending T20 World Cup.
