KATHMANDU: The government has outlined plans to request letters of intent for 20 projects, predominantly focusing on hydropower initiatives, during the 3rd Investment Summit, which kicks off in the federal capital today.
Both domestic and international investors are being invited to express interest in the identified projects, which have undergone feasibility studies.
Among the projects, the Dhulikhel Medicity Project stands out, with a proposed investment of Rs 11 billion aimed at establishing a super-specialty hospital in Dhulikhel, Kavrepalanchowk, with the objective of fostering medical tourism.
Another noteworthy project is the Sudurpaschim Public Transport Project, aimed at enhancing public transportation in Kailali, Kanchanpur, and Doti districts of Sudurpaschim Province.
The project, estimated at Rs 31.13 billion, plans to introduce 173 buses, including 104 electric vehicles, over a three-year period.
The Naumure Multi-Purpose Project, estimated at Rs 92 billion, aims to generate 281.04 MW of electricity, while the Khimti Those Shivalaya Reservoir-based Hydropower Project, with an estimated cost of Rs 289 billion, is set to become the largest hydropower project, located at the border of Dolakha and Ramechhap districts.
Other notable projects include the Humla Karnali Hydropower Project (61.2 MW), Upper Chameliya Hydropower Project (53.85 MW), and Panchkhal Special Economic Zone, among others, aimed at generating employment and promoting economic activities.
The government is also seeking concept papers for projects such as the Pokhara International Convention Centre and Exhibition Centre, Daiji Industrial Zone, Babarmahal Administrative Plaza, and Karnali-Chisapani Wind Energy Project, among others.
The Investment Summit serves as a platform to showcase these projects and attract investment for their successful implementation, ultimately contributing to the country’s economic development and prosperity.
