Nepal witnessing gradual rise in temperatures

KATHMANDU: The Weather Forecasting Division has reported a blend of westerly and local winds currently affecting Nepal, resulting in partial to normal changes across Koshi and Sudurpaschim provinces.

This afternoon, the weather is expected to be mostly clear in the country’s hilly regions, while other areas will experience partial cloud cover.

Scattered rain accompanied by lightning is likely in Koshi, Gandaki, Karnali, and the hilly regions of Sudurpaschim Province.

Additionally, light snowfall may occur in select high-hilly and Himalayan areas.

Storms are likely in a few spots across Lumbini Pradesh, Madhes Pradesh, and Koshi Pradesh, according to the Division.

The Division has noted a gradual rise in maximum and minimum temperatures throughout most parts of the country in recent days.

Some areas in the Terai region of Lumbini province have seen temperatures soar to 40 degrees Celsius or higher.

As the possibility of extreme heat persists in the Terai area, the Division has urged people to stay indoors, wear light cotton clothing, cover their heads when venturing out, and stay hydrated with water and juices.
