CHITWAN: Eighty eight women who were rescued from being trafficked have been rehabilitated in the society in Chitwan district in the fiscal year of 2018/19 on the initiative of KIN Nepal, a non-governmental organisation working against human trafficking.
The women were rescued from Nepal-India border area and various Indian cities. Of them, 68 were handed to their families, and the remaining 21 have been provided with skill development training, said Kemika Ghimire, coordinator of the KIN Nepal, Chitwan at an event organised here on Tuesday on the occasion of the World Day against Trafficking.
Women are being trafficked under various pretexts and false promise of marriage and good jobs, said Ghimire on the occasion. Chief of the district coordination committee Krishna Kumar Dallakoti stressed the need for all to unite against human trafficking.
Likewise, Superintendent of Police Dan Bahadur Malla said the police have launched a campaign against human trafficking in the district.
