EC seeks clarification from parties for delayed audit report submission

KATHMANDU: The Election Commission (EC) has sought clarification from various political parties for failing to submit their audit reports on time.

The Commission has instructed these parties to submit their reports within seven days along with reasons for the delay.

Additionally, they are required to make the report public within the same timeframe.

In a statement issued on Sunday, EC spokesperson Ramdatta Pandey urged parties to adhere to the Political Parties Act, 2017, and the Election Commission Act, 2017, ensuring compliance with their provisions.

According to EC Joint-Spokesperson Ramdutta Pandey, Aam Aadmi Party Nepal, Rastriya Janamukhi Party Loktantrik, and Nepal Communist Party Loktantrik have failed to submit their audit reports for three consecutive years. Similarly, Gandhibadi Party, Nepal Rastrabadi Party, Maobadi Janamukti Party Nepal, Nepal Communist Party Paribartan, Samajik Ekta Party, and Sajha Party Nepal have not submitted reports for two years.

The EC has requested clarification from these parties.

Out of the 118 registered parties, 82 have been directed to make their audit reports for Fiscal Year 2079/80 public within seven days.

Additionally, 21 parties have been instructed to submit, publicize, and notify the Commission about their reports within the same timeframe.

Meanwhile, Nepali Congress BP has been asked to provide details regarding the delayed submission of its audit report.
