NC leader Thapa advocates for prioritizing good governance and development as party’s main agenda

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress general-secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa has underscored the importance of making development and good governance the central agenda of the party.

Speaking at an event titled ‘Congress Dialogue in Community Programme’ in Dhangadhi today, Thapa emphasized the need for the Nepali Congress to take a leading role in fostering consensus among political parties on issues such as combating corruption and establishing good governance.

He proposed organizing a national debate and discussion on development issues to achieve this objective.

Thapa stressed that the party’s agenda should not be confined to addressing current challenges but should also encompass long-term solutions.

He suggested designating the year 2081 BS as a period for the party’s renewal and revitalization.

Furthermore, Thapa emphasized that the Nepali Congress should prioritize its major agenda over governmental matters.

He expressed confidence that the inputs gathered during the dialogue would inform the party’s future policies and plans.

Addressing concerns about factionalism within the party, Thapa attributed it to flaws in the party’s organizational processes. He urged for immediate measures to address factionalism and promote unity within the party ranks.
