Nepal Communist Party Secretariat meeting makes no headway

KATHMANDU: The Secretariat meeting of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) held on Monday failed to make headway on who will be given the leadership of the party’s School Department.

The meeting held at Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar ended deciding to convene again two weeks later.

Party Spokesperson Narayan Kaji Shrestha, secretariat member Ishwor Pokhrel, senior leader Jhalanath Khanal, Ghanshyam Bhusal, Beduram Bhusal, and Ram Karki have put their claim overtaking the charge of the department chief.

Shrestha informed that the secretariat meeting will be convened on August 13. The party has already agreed to share leadership of 32 departments among the leaders of the erstwhile CPN-UML and CPN (Maoist Center).

The two chairmen of the party K P Oli and Pushpa Kamal Dahal have failed to agree on the leadership of the School Department due to which the party’s secretariat meeting was postponed twice earlier.

While Oli has been insisting that Ishwor Pokharel, who is also the Minister for Defense, should lead the department, Dahal has insisted that Narayan Kaji Shrestha, the party spokesperson, should head the department.
