38 people still missing in Nepal’s floods and landslides

KATHMANDU: A total of 117 people lost their lives while 38 people went missing in the floods and landslides induced by monsoon downpour (between June 16 to July 23) in Nepal.

Two people lost their lives in the last two days alone, Vednidhi Khanal, chief of  National Emergency Operations Center under the Ministry of Home Affairs told Khabarhub.

Eighty people sustained injuries in a total of 414 incidents that took place during the period. Most of those who underwent treatment at the hospitals have returned home.

According to the statistics unveiled today by the Home Ministry, 134 incidents were related to floods, 227 landslides while 53 to heavy downpour.

According to Home Ministry, property worth Rs 1.7 billion rupees was destroyed in the disasters.
