DMP Shrestha emphasizes Lumbini’s significance as the birthplace of buddhism



LUMBINI: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Narayan Kaji Shrestha, underscored Lumbini’s pivotal role as the cradle of Buddhism, stating that it holds unparalleled importance for discussions on peace and prosperity.

Speaking at the inauguration of the International Conclave on Global Peace for Prosperity in Lumbini, Shrestha emphasized the inseparable connection between Buddha, Buddhism, and Lumbini.

He reiterated that the teachings of Buddha and the essence of Lumbini are intertwined, making it an ideal venue for deliberations on peace and prosperity.

Highlighting the timeless relevance of Buddha’s teachings, Shrestha emphasized the values of peace, harmony, and compassion inherited from Gautam Buddha.

He stressed that these teachings are imperative for addressing contemporary global challenges and fostering well-being and emancipation.

The conclave, jointly hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Honorary Consular Corps Nepal (HCCN), witnessed the participation of ambassadors, diplomatic representatives, and experts on foreign affairs and heritage.

Shrestha called for global peace, expressing concerns over ongoing conflicts and their detrimental impacts on economic distress and humanitarian needs.

He urged for reflection on Buddha’s teachings amidst today’s troubled world, emphasizing Lumbini’s significance as a place for spiritual contemplation and enlightenment.

The event aims to promote Lumbini, attract investment in Nepal, and foster global fraternity.

Discussions on investment opportunities and tourism potential are slated to take place, with the objective of connecting Lumbini with the global Buddhist community and enhancing Nepal’s investment prospects.
