Upliftment of grassroots people is the main objective of the current system: President Paudel

JANAKPURDAM: President Ramchandra Paudel has emphasized the need to prioritize activities aimed at uplifting grassroots people, including Dalits, oppressed, indigenous, and women, stating that it is the government’s responsibility.

Speaking at a program jointly organized by the Martyr Keshav Koirala Memorial Foundation and Matihani Municipality after unveiling the statue of martyr Keshav Koirala in Matihani today, President Paudel stressed the necessity of protecting the martyrs’ dreams of establishing a state system with democracy, republic, and equality, uplifting marginalized and underprivileged classes.

President Paudel recalled Matihani as the center of revolution, struggling for the establishment of civil rights, adding that while the political milestone of ‘republic’ has been achieved, its true essence is yet to be realized.

He highlighted the establishment of the federal democratic republic in the country through the struggle of the Nepali people, emphasizing that the Constitution of Nepal has truly made all Nepali people the owners of state power, ending all forms of discrimination and inequality.

The President urged leaders of political parties represented in the federal parliament to formulate laws empowering the provinces soon.

He paid tribute to Keshav Koirala, a warrior who sacrificed his life to strengthen democratic principles, norms, values, and organizations, stating that Koirala was born in Chhahare of Okhaldhunga and was a skillful organizer and a popular leader.

President Paudel also unveiled the statue of democratic warrior Ganesh Nepali, constructed at Jaleshwor Municipality-5, calling upon all to strive for prosperity through good governance, development, and employment.

He emphasized that making democracy a way of life and culture would be a true tribute to martyrs like Keshav Koirala and democratic warriors like Ganesh Nepali.
