According to sources within the Maoist Center, the party has finalized its decision to put forward Dahal as the candidate for the National Assembly Chair. Narayan Dahal assumed office as a member of the National Assembly in April 2022.

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has instructed employees to align their work with the common minimum program (CMP), developed in response to the altered political circumstances. During the semi-annual review meeting of the Office of the Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers, he urged proactive efforts in line with the government’s fundamental policies and programs, taking into account the altered situation.
NC to nominate Yuvaraj Sharma as NA Chair candidate
Nepali Congress (NC) has decided to nominate Yuvaraj Sharma as its candidate for the position of National Assembly (NA) Chair. The working committee meeting of NC parliamentary party, on Sunday, decided to pick Sharma’s name for the candidacy to the post of NA Chair. Earlier, NC had prepared to field Krishna Prasad Sitaula as its candidate for the National Assembly Chair.
Home Minister Lamichhane directs Nepal Police for enhanced citizen Safety and security
Deputy Prime Minister and Home Affairs Minister, Rabi Lamichhane, has instructed Nepal Police to ensure the safety and security of citizens. Following his visit to the Nepal Police Headquarters, Lamichhane directed police personnel to take action based on evidence in any incident, emphasizing a result-oriented approach to investigations and equal application of the law. During the visit, Lamichhane paid tribute to the Police Martyrs Memorial and toured the museum within the Nepal Police Headquarters.

Former Deputy Prime Minister and Nepali Congress Vice President, Purna Bahadur Khadka, has stated that the CPN-Maoist Center has issued a significant political threat by breaking the ruling coalition of the democratic forces. Speaking at the first district convention of Nepal Loktantrik Indigenous Nationalities Federation in Surkhet on Sunday, DPM Khadka levelled criticism against Maoist Center Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ for the breaking up of the then ruling coalition.
Tourism revenue surges, doubles in foreign exchange inflow
In the current fiscal year, within the first seven months, Nepal has witnessed a substantial increase in revenue from tourism, amounting to Rs 32.24 billion in foreign exchange. According to a report published by Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB), there has been a noteworthy improvement in tourism income this year, rising by a remarkable 107% in comparison to the same period of the previous fiscal year. The surge in the number of incoming tourists has significantly contributed to this positive trend.

In today’s trading session, a total of 56,726 transactions of 743,457 shares involving 304 companies, amounted to a business turnover of Rs 2,922,771,558.
SC concludes President’s amnesty for murder convict Regal contrary to Rule of Law
The Supreme Court (SC), in its ruling on the case concerning the release of murder convict Yograj Dhakal ‘Regal,’ has declared the presidential pardon and special privileges granted by the cabinet as incompatible with the principles of the rule of law. The full court of the Supreme Court stated that granting amnesty to a murder convict while the case is still under consideration does not fall within the jurisdiction of presidential pardon.
Hong Kong vs Nepal T20 match abandoned due to rain
The highly anticipated first match of the Tri-nations T20 International Series between Nepal and host nation Hong Kong, China, ended in disappointment as rain forced the abandonment of the game. Six aspirants, including Suhang Nembang, apply for Ilam-2 by-election candidacy
The race for candidacy in the upcoming by-election in Ilam-2 has kicked off, with aspirants from the CPN-UML vying for the opportunity to represent the constituency. The government’s decision to conduct a by-election in Ilam-2 follows the unfortunate passing of Subhash Nembang, the House of Representatives (HoR) member. Set for April 22, the Election Commission has scheduled the by-election to fill the vacant seat.
