CIAA files bribery charges against Survey Officer Chaulagain

KATHMANDU: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has formally lodged a case against Surveyor Laxmi Prasad Chaulagain, currently employed at the Survey Office in Kalanki, and Netra Bahadur Pokharel, associated with Rajdhani Lekhapadhi Sewa, over corruption allegations.

The CIAA submitted the case to the Special Courts in Kathmandu on Sunday.

Both individuals are accused of accepting a bribe of Rs 100,000 from service recipients, purportedly for expediting recent land and plot surveys and providing official documents.

The CIAA had previously detained them for the alleged misuse of their authority.

Of the embezzled amount, Surveyor Chaulagain is said to have received Rs 50,000 in connection with his involvement in recent land transactions.

Legal proceedings have been initiated against both individuals by the CIAA based on evidence of bribery and misconduct.
