KATHMANDU: Nepal emerged triumphant over the Netherlands with a convincing six-wicket win in a pivotal T20I series match on Saturday.
In pursuit of a modest target of 120 runs, Nepal secured the victory, reaching the target with two wickets down in 15.2 overs.
The Dutch won the toss in the first innings and chose to bat first.
However, Nepal’s dominant bowling performance restricted the Dutch to 120 runs within the allotted 20 overs.
Pratish GC led Nepal’s bowling attack, claiming three crucial wickets, while Karan KC and Kushal Malla supported with two wickets each.
Despite the dismissal of key Dutch batsmen Max O’Down, Michael Levitt, and Sybrand Engelbrecht, who scored 31, 4, and a duck respectively, Nepal’s batting lineup showed resilience.
In the second innings, V Kingma of the Netherlands managed to take three crucial wickets against Nepal.
Nepal’s opening batsmen Kushal Bhurtel and Aarif Sheikh contributed 12 and eight runs respectively before departing.
However, Gulsan Jha played a vital innings, scoring 38 runs, while Captain Rohit Poudel led from the front with an impressive 46 runs, steering Nepal to victory.
