KATHMANDU: The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has announced a hike in the salaries of national cricket team players following a decision made during the CAN working committee meeting held over the weekend.
The new classification system introduces four grades, with the top tier, Grade ‘A,’ now earning a monthly salary of one lakh rupees.
This salary adjustment benefits six players, including captain Rohit Paudel, Sompal Kami, Karan KC, Dipendra Singh Airi, Asif Sheikh, and Kushal Bhurtel.
Grade ‘B’ sees six players, including Kushal Malla, Gulshan Jha, Bhim Sarki, Lalit Narayan Rajbanshi, Arif Seikh, and Abinash Bohara, receiving a monthly salary of 70,000 rupees.
In a move towards gender parity, women cricketers in Grade ‘A’ will now receive a monthly salary of 50,000 rupees under the new classification.
Grade ‘C’ includes four players, headed by Nepal ‘A’ captain Binod Bhandari, who will be earning 55,000 rupees per month.
The players in this grade are Binod Bhandari, Arjun Saud, Sandeep Jora, and Pratish GC.
Players in Grade ‘D,’ such as Pawan Sarraf, Sagar Dhakal, Anil Sah, Bibek Kumar Yadav, Akash Chand, Basir Ahmed, and Surya Tamang, will be paid 35,000 rupees monthly.
Additionally, seven emerging category players from different provinces will now receive a monthly stipend of 25,000 rupees.
The emerging category includes Dipesh Kandel of Koshi, Rupesh Singh of Madhesh, Rijan Dhakal of Bagmati, Bipin Khatri of Gandaki, Dev Khanal of Lumbini, Arjun Gharti of Karnali, and Hemanta Dhami of Sudurpaschim.
