KATHMANDU: In a resounding display of dominance, Nepal emerged triumphant with a commanding nine-wicket win over the Netherlands in the ICC CWC League 2 fixture held at the Tribhuvan University International Ground in Kathmandu.

Having won the toss, Nepal’s decision to field first proved to be astute as they executed their plans meticulously, restricting the Netherlands to a modest total of 137 runs in 39 overs.

In pursuit of the target, Nepal’s batting lineup delivered a clinical performance. Kushal Bhurtel set the tone with a solid contribution of 28 runs, laying a solid foundation for the chase.

Subsequently, Anil Shah and Aasif Sheik showcased their batting prowess with impressive half-centuries, scoring 57 and 54 runs respectively, guiding Nepal towards a comfortable victory.

Earlier in the innings, Nepal’s bowlers exhibited their prowess, with Kushal Bhurtel leading the charge by claiming four wickets.

Lalit Rajbanshi and Sompal Kami provided crucial support with two and one wicket(s) respectively, while Rohit Poudel made a significant contribution with a wicket to his name.

Despite the efforts of Dutch captain Scott Edwards, who scored 33 runs, along with contributions from Bas De Leede (27 runs) and Sybrand Abraham Engelbrecht (23 runs), the Netherlands fell short against Nepal’s determined performance.
