KATHMANDU: Nepal’s remarkable journey in the ACC Women’s Premier Cup continues as they clinch a spot in the semifinals with an emphatic win over Kuwait.

In a gripping quarterfinal showdown on Wednesday, Nepal outclassed Kuwait by eight wickets, showcasing their dominance on the cricket field.

Opting to bat first after winning the toss, Kuwait faced a formidable challenge from Nepal’s bowling attack and was eventually bowled out for a meager 73 runs.

The highlight of the match was Sita Rana Magar’s breathtaking hat-trick, which left spectators in awe. Magar’s exceptional spell saw the dismissals of Priyada Murali, Marayam Omar, and Amana Sharif Tarik in quick succession, severely denting Kuwait’s batting lineup.

Additionally, Kabita Kunwar’s stellar performance added to Nepal’s bowling prowess, claiming two crucial wickets.

Despite valiant efforts from Kuwait’s Priyada Murali and Khadija Khalil, who scored 29 and 13 runs respectively, their team fell short of posting a competitive total.

With this victory, Nepal maintains their undefeated streak in the ACC Premier Cup, having secured convincing wins over Hong Kong, Bhutan, and Maldives in the group stage matches.

Out of the 16 participating teams, Nepal, Thailand, Kuwait, UAE, Japan, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Hong Kong have advanced to the quarterfinals, intensifying the competition in the premier cup.

As the tournament progresses, Nepal remains poised to vie for a coveted spot in the Asia Cup, with the top two teams in the finals earning the prestigious opportunity.
