Education is backbone of economic change: Finance Minister

TRISHULI: Finance Minister Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat has said education is the backbone of economic change.

The Finance Minister was addressing the 35th anniversary function of Birendra Secondary School at Dupcheshwar rural municipality-2 today.

He said education alone is the primary basis for job creation, economic income and allied sectors.

“Construction of infrastructures is necessary for development.

Although this makes daily living convenient, the development of education is greater than this and is the most powerful means for economic change,” Finance Minister Mahat said, adding that education shows the main path towards increasing the sources of income, saving and making the future bright.

Stating that systematic roads, drinking water, irrigation, health services and all are the indicators of development which needed to be made more efficient by means of education, he said the government has emphasised on increasing the quality of education for employment generation and skills enhancement.

“We should become technology-friendly and focus on technical education in tune with the changing time,” Minister Mahat said, adding that the State planned to provide skill training to those people who have not got the opportunity for education with the goal of employment generation.
