Koshi breaks losing streak with face-saving win against Lumbini in PM Cup Cricket



KATHMANDU: Koshi Province marked a triumphant end to the Prime Minister Cup One-Day National Cricket Tournament by defeating Lumbini Province by 16 runs in their final match, securing a much-needed win after eight consecutive losses.

In the face of Koshi’s determined performance, Lumbini faced a setback, succumbing to a two-wicket defeat.

Chasing a target of 173, Lumbini was bowled out for 156 runs in 46.5 overs.

Dilsad Ali emerged as the top scorer with 32 runs off 64 balls, supported by Mirnal Gurung (26), Samrat Bhushal (11), Birat Bhandari (28), and Krishna Karki (22).

Koshi’s bowling attack, led by Sujan Ghimire with 3 wickets, Abhishek Gautam with 2 wickets, and Bir Magar with 3 wickets, played a pivotal role in securing the victory.

In the earlier innings, Koshi, choosing to bat first, posted a total of 172 runs in 44.4 overs, with Ankit Subedi, the captain, leading the charge with 49 runs off 65 balls.

Sujan Ghimire (43) and Minash Thapa (25) made valuable contributions with the bat.

Nar Sarki of Lumbini took 4 wickets, while Abhishek Gautam and Bir Magar took 2 wickets each.

With this face-saving win, Koshi concludes the tournament with 2 points from 9 matches, securing the 9th position. Lumbini, having won 1 and lost 7, maintains the 9th position with 2 points from 8 matches.
