KATHMANDU: Balendra Shah, the Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, has opted not to participate in the National Assembly elections.

According to his personal secretary, Bhupadev Shah, the decision is attributed to the Mayor’s demanding schedule.

Bhupadev Shah stated, “Mayor Shah will not be casting his vote due to his busy commitments.”

Currently, voting is underway across all seven provinces to elect 19 members to the National Assembly.

In the ongoing elections in Hetauda, part of the Bagmati province, Mayor Shah, who is a registered voter in Bagmati, will not be exercising his voting rights.

In contrast, Deputy Mayor Sunita Dangol has made her way to Hetauda to participate in the voting process.
