EC completes all preparations for NA election
All preparations, along with necessary security arrangements, for the National Assembly (NA) election have been completed. The NA election is scheduled to take place on January 25. Voting is set to occur from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, with Province Assembly members, chairpersons, and vice-chairpersons of rural municipalities, as well as mayors and deputy-mayors of urban municipalities serving as the eligible voters.
Janamat Party quits Madhes government, withdraws support
The Janamat Party, led by Dr. CK Raut, has quit the Madhesh Province government, marking a significant shift in the political landscape. Two ministers from the Janamat Party handed in their resignations to Chief Minister Saroj Yadav on Tuesday. Prime Minister (PM) Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said the upcoming fiscal year budget will focus on accomplishing incomplete projects arguing that conventional policy, program and budget will not address the problems. At a meeting held at the Office of Prime Minister and Council of Ministers (OPMCM) today as preparation for upcoming year’s policy, program and budget, Prime Minister Dahal directed the subordinate authorities to make necessary preparation for completing the unfinished projects.

84 individuals denied boarding on visit visas at Tribhuvan Int’l Airport
The Immigration Office at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) has prevented 84 individuals from boarding flights to various countries on visit visas in the past 24 hours. Gogan Bahadur Hamal, the Head of the Immigration Office, stated that the returned individuals intended to travel to destinations such as Dubai, Qatar, Bahrain, and other countries.

Sagarmatha region faces 30% decline in tourist arrivals

Ministry seeks submissions for proposed Social Sites Act
The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology has invited submissions for the proposed Social Sites (Use and Regulations) Act, 2080 BS’. According to the Ministry, the bill aims to discourage abuse of platforms of social sites, making their use decent, safe and systematic. The primary goal of the Act includes making social platform operators and users responsible and accountable to society.
Activist Yuvraj Safal files complaint with Federal Parliament against Lamichhane
A complaint has been lodged within the Federal Parliament against Rabi Lamichhane, the Chairman of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), by self-proclaimed activist Yuvraj Safal. The complaint, directed to the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee of the Federal Parliament and Speaker Devraj Ghimire, seeks a comprehensive investigation into the alleged financial improprieties involving Ravi Lamichhane.
