Tribhuvan International Airport sets new record with 8.7 million passengers in 2023



KATHMANDU: The Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) experienced an unprecedented surge in passenger numbers in 2023, with a total of 8,691,443 passengers utilizing the airport, encompassing both domestic and international travelers.

Compared to the 7,954,495 passengers recorded in 2022, last year’s figures marked a substantial 9.2 percent increase.

Particularly noteworthy is the surge in international passengers, reaching 4,541,137, reflecting an impressive 30.18 percent rise from the preceding year.

Furthermore, TIA witnessed a substantial increase in flight movements, with 31,460 additional international flights and a remarkable 96,980 domestic flights landing at the airport in the same year.

This upward trend is indicative of the growing connectivity and air traffic at TIA.

Nepal’s aviation landscape has seen significant strides, evident in the nation’s bilateral air service agreements with 41 countries.
