Ruling alliance rejects collaboration with UML in NA election

Alliance meeting at 4 PM, official decisions awaited

KATHMANDU: The ruling alliance has reached a unanimous decision to abstain from any collaboration with the main opposition party in the upcoming National Assembly (NA) election.

Despite recent talks between key leaders, including the Prime Minister and Chairman of CPN (Maoist Center), President of Nepali Congress Sher Bahadur Deuba, and Chairman of CPN-UML KP Sharma Oli, the alliance has firmly decided against joining forces with the opposition.

In anticipation of further developments, the alliance is set to convene at 4 PM today to formalize decisions regarding their strategy for the upcoming election. The decision holds particular significance as 20 seats are set to become vacant on March 4, including representatives from various political entities: 9 from UML, 4 from Nepali Congress, 3 from Maoist Center, 3 from the Unified Socialist Party, and 1 from Janata Samajwadi Party.

The ruling coalition, comprising Nepali Congress, CPN-Maoist Center, Janata Samajwadi Party, Unified Socialist, Nagarik Unmukti Party, Janamat Party, Loktantrik Samajwadi Party, and Rastriya Janamorcha, faces the intricate challenge of navigating seat allocation amidst these political dynamics.
