SC receives writ against govt decision to curtail oxygen budget at Bir Hospital

KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court (SC) has received a writ petition against the ‘financial restriction’ imposed on Bir Hospital by the government.

Advocate Bimal Pokharel filed the writ on Monday, challenging the government’s decision to cut the budget for oxygen and tiffin at Bir Hospital.

The writ petitioner claims that the government’s decision to curtail the budget formerly allotted for oxygen supply and the tiffin arrangement is unlawful, infringes upon fundamental rights to access healthcare and nutrition.

The petition requests an interim order to not immediately implement the half-budget allocation at Bir Hospital.

The hearing on the writ is scheduled for Wednesday. The petitioner has demanded the interim order for the immediate release of funds for the Hospital.
