KATHMANDU: In response to the tragic clash between agitating EPS students and security personnel, the government has made significant personnel changes.

Chief District Officer of Lalitpur, Rudra Prasad Pandit, has been transferred to the Ministry of Home Affairs, while SSP Siddi Bikram Shah has been reassigned to the Police Headquarters. These decisions, made during a Cabinet meeting this afternoon, were based on the perceived weak security during the clash.

Additionally, the government has taken disciplinary action against several officials involved in the incident. DSP Umesh Lamasl, who served as the field commander during the clash, Director of EPS Korea Section Gurudatta Subedi, and Bodh Raj Dhanuar, the Personal Security Officer (PSO) of Minister Prakash Jwala, have been suspended.

Also, the government has decided to provide compensation of Rs one million each to the families of two youths killed during the clash.

The victims, 22-year-old Birendra Shah from Doti and 23-year-old Sujan Rawat from Dailekh, lost their lives in a clash between protesting students of ESP and security personnel.

Likewise, the government has also decided to provide free treatments to those injured in the incident.
