DUBLIN: Dublin witnessed violent scenes after an earlier knife attack in the city center left four people injured.

It is not clear exactly what caused the disturbances, BBC said.

People involved in clashes, and a number of vehicles were set on fire, the report said.

The Irish police chief has blamed the unrest on a “lunatic, hooligan faction driven by far-right ideology”, and the president says the earlier attack is being “abused by groups with an agenda”.

Police in the city center say the streets are “mainly calm” now.

BBC reported that public transport remained disrupted in parts of the Irish capital.

Investigators say they’re “keeping an open mind” about any potential motive, according to BBC.
