KATHMANDU: In a staunch objection to the government’s recent decision to shut down TikTok in Nepal, Nepali Congress (NC) leader Dr. Shekhar Koirala expressed deep regret and labeled the move as a curtailment of personal freedom.

Taking to Facebook, Leader Koirala voiced his concerns, stating, “It is regrettable that the government has chosen to close down TikTok, impacting personal freedoms. I urge the government to immediately retract this decision and uphold democratic values.”

In a pointed reminder, he emphasized the historical resistance of the people and court interventions when the government had attempted autocratic measures in the past.

“I would like to remind the government about the people’s resistance and court orders when the government tried to be autocratic in the past,” he wrote, urging the government to reconsider its stance and uphold democratic principles.
