China delivers relief materials to Nepal’s earthquake victims



POKHARA: Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Chen Song handed over relief materials valued at approximately NRs 30 billion to Nepal, aimed at supporting the earthquake-affected regions of Jajarkot and Rukum West.

The items, brought in by two Chinese military aircraft on Wednesday morning, were handed over to Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha at Pokhara Airport this morning.

Expressing heartfelt appreciation for the timely assistance, Deputy Prime Minister Shrestha emphasized the enduring friendship between Nepal and China, citing mutual support during times of distress as a testament to their strong historical ties.

Ambassador Song conveyed condolences for the loss of life and property caused by the recent earthquake in West Nepal.

He reiterated China’s steadfast commitment to stand by Nepal and its people during this challenging period, underscoring President Xi Jinping’s personal expression of sympathy through a heartfelt letter.

The relief consignment comprises 4,600 blankets and 600 tents transported by the two aircraft, complemented by an additional 23 truckloads of aid, worth around 100 million, sent through the Kerung border.

The latter includes 2,300 tents, 2,000 blankets, 700 tarpaulins, 500 essential medical supplies for epidemic prevention, and 10,000 mosquito repellents.
