PM Dahal and UML Chairman Oli hold talks
A meeting took place between Prime Minister (PM) Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda and CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli at Singha Durbar today afternoon. CPN-UML Chairman Oli held a meeting with Prime Minister Dahal, also the Chairman of the Maoist Center, against the backdrop of uncertainties surrounding the government’s expansion in Koshi Province.
Four members of the same family murdered in Mugu
Four people belonging to the same family were brutally killed in Chayanath Rara Municipality-6, Mundu village of Mugu. Police said that an unidentified group used sharp weapons to attack the family in their own home. The locals discovered the horrifying scene on Friday morning at around 9:30 a.m. and promptly informed the authorities about the gruesome incident.
T20 cricket series: UAE wins Nepal by 4 wickets
In the showdown of the T20 cricket series featuring Nepal, UAE, and Hong Kong, UAE won Nepal by four wickets. Nepal had earlier set a target of 163 runs for UAE after winning the toss and electing to bat first at the Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground in Kirtipur on Friday. Army Chief Sharma leaves for China
Chief of Army Staff, Prabhuram Sharma, left for China on an official visit today. Nepali Army Spokesperson Krishna Prasad Bhandari shared that Army Chief Sharma left for China to attend the inaugural function of the 10th Beijing Xiangshan Forum to be held in Beijing on October 29-31. CoAS Sharma is scheduled to return home on November 2 after wrapping up his China visit.
Public urged for blood donation to address shortage issues
The Nepal Red Cross Society (NRCS), Bhaktapur has appealed to the public to donate blood in order to address a nationwide shortage of blood supplies. At present, blood banks across the country including in Bhaktapur are facing the shortage of blood when there is a significant demand for blood supplies amidst the soaring cases of dengue fever.
DSP Tiwari stabbed while rescuing hostage infant from deranged father in Kohalpur
Efforts of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sundar Tiwari turned perilous when he was stabbed during a daring rescue mission in Banke’s area police office. DSP Tiwari sustained an injury to his right elbow after being attacked with a knife by Kushal Thapa of Deepnagar, who had threatened to kill his 20-day-old infant son while holding him hostage.
UML’s tea reception postponed to November 1 in Light of UN Secretary-General’s visit
The CPN-UML’s tea reception, originally scheduled for October 31, has been rescheduled to November 1. The decision to this effect was made citing the upcoming visit of the United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to Nepal. The party has instructed the leaders on the necessary arrangements to be made for the event.
Argha Bhagawati temple receives more tourists
The Argha Bhagawati temple, one of the key religious and touristic destinations in Arghakhanchi district has received more religious tourists in this year’s Dashain festival. The temple has Asia’s largest idol of goddess Bhagawati. The 21ft tall idol of goddess Bhagawati is one of the attractions for the visitors there.
4.75 kg baby born in Dhaulagiri Hospital
A baby weighing 4.75 kilograms was born by natural birth in Dhaulagiri Hospital, the heaviest baby born in the hospital so far. The health condition of the newborn and his mother is normal, the hospital said. Malati Chhantyal Tamang, 32, of Jaimini Muncipality-3 in the district gave birth to the baby boy on Thursday, Nursing In-Charge of the hospital Devi Bhattarai said.
Partial Lunar eclipse to grace Kathmandu skies on October 28-29
Nepal is set to witness the celestial spectacle of a partial lunar eclipse on the night of October 28th to the early hours of October 29th. The Nepal Calendar Determination Committee has confirmed this occurrence on Saturday (October 28-29). According to Prof. Dr. Devmani Bhattarai, the eclipse is expected to begin at 1:19 am, with its culmination marked at 2:38 am, as stated in the committee-approved calendar (almanac).
