New Bill bars provincial police from becoming IGP



KATHMANDU: The State Affairs Committee of Parliament has given a final touch to the Bill on Integration of Nepal  Police and State Police, according to which State Police Chief remains under the purview of the Central Police headquarters.

The meeting held on Sunday endorsed the Bill on Integration of Nepal  Police and State Police with amendment. The Bill will come into force once it is endorsed by both the Upper House and Lower House.

According to the provision in the Bill, those policemen who are deputed following integration process can become IGP but those who are recruited as policemen in the province in line with the provincial law can become SSP to the maximum.
