KATHMANDU: In a display of solidarity, healthcare professionals, including doctors, took to the streets in Kathmandu on Thursday to voice their concerns regarding workplace safety.

The demonstration occurred along the Nayabaneshwar-Maitighar road section.

As doctors, hailing from Babar Mahal, marched towards Nayabaneshwar Chowk, their path was abruptly halted by a strong police presence, strategically deployed to safeguard the restricted area.

Asserting that their protest was peaceful, the doctors earnestly requested permission to continue their demonstration.

Regrettably, the police firmly denied their request, insisting that entry into the restricted area was off-limits. During this exchange, the doctors passionately chanted slogans, demanding an end to what they perceived as police repression.

In recent days, resident doctors in Kathmandu have been actively protesting after some of their colleagues were subjected to violence within hospital premises.
