KATHMANDU: Madhav Kumar Nepal, Chairman of CPN-Unified Socialist, has asserted that there is a concerted effort to remove his party from government through opposition to the US grant project MCC.
Speaking at a program organized by a party-affiliated organization in Kathmandu on Monday, Nepal accused some factions of leveraging public sentiment against MCC to weaken his party and ultimately expel it from government. He argued that boycotting MCC and expecting public support as revolutionaries was a misguided strategy that would only serve American interests and diminish their position.
“Opposing MCC alone can not make the party popular, otherwise Nepal Peasant and Workers Party confined to Bhaktapur could get nationwide applause,” leader Nepal said.
Highlighting the implications for Nepal’s sovereignty and foreign policy, the Unified Socialist Chairman contended that explanatory comments were necessary to preserve the nation’s self-respect and non-aligned foreign policy.
