Body discovered in Dolpa identified as NA Major Pandit

BIRENDRANAGAR: The body discovered in Dolpa on Tuesday has been identified as that of Major General Bimal Pandit.

The body of Major Bimal Pandit, a member of the Nepal Army who had been missing for 16 days, was discovered in Karbagad near the Bheri River on Tuesday.

Major Pandit’s lifeless body was recovered from the banks of the Bheri River, near Chindebagar in Karbagad, Dolpa.

The discovery was made by Sibamal Sarki, also known as Parimal, a resident of Tripurasundari-5, who promptly reported the grim finding to the Khadang police station.

Sarki came across the body at approximately 6:00 am while engaged in a fishing activity along the Bheri River.

Upon receiving the report, the Khadang police promptly notified the district police office. In response, a team of Nepal Army personnel, led by Major Ravi Shah, and equipped with rescue materials, swiftly arrived at the scene in Chindebagar, under the command of DSP Shiva Budhathoki.

Accompanied by the deceased’s father and brother, who had also reached the site with Nepal Army personnel, the body of Major Pandit was identified. His personal belongings, including a watch and a ring, were recovered alongside him.

DSP Budhathoki disclosed that preparations are currently in progress to transport the deceased’s body to the District Hospital Dunai for a post-mortem examination.

Major Bimal Pandit, aged 38 and hailing from Kageshwori Manohara-Danchhi in Kathmandu, had been stationed in Dolpa at the time of his disappearance. He was last seen at 4 pm on August 27.
