Nepal has high potential for energy, technology and tourism: American Senator Hollen



KATHMANDU: American Senator Chris Van Hollen, currently on a visit to Nepal, expressed his optimism regarding Nepal’s potential across multiple sectors, including energy, technology, and tourism.

Speaking at an event hosted by the American Chambers of Commerce (AMCHAM) in Kathmandu, Senator Hollen pledged to actively promote investment in Nepal among American investors. He highlighted the recent surge in investment opportunities in Nepal, particularly in the fields of energy, technology, and tourism.

Senator Hollen also emphasized his role in facilitating collaboration between Nepal and American investors. During the event, AMCHAM showcased a concise video presentation focusing on the promising prospects within the energy, technology, and tourism sectors.

In addition, Senator Hollen commended the efforts of the Millennium Challenge Account Nepal (MCA Nepal) in the energy sector, highlighting the substantial support extended by the United States to Nepal across various domains. He also commended the favorable investment climate in Nepal, characterized by its simplicity and effectiveness.

At the event, American Ambassador R. Thomson praised AMCHAM for its effective coordination of American investors operating in Nepal.

Ajit Shah, the President of AMCHAM, underscored Nepal’s vast potential within the energy, technology, and tourism sectors, urging American investment in these promising areas.

The event further saw discussions centered around American investments within Nepal’s energy, technology, and tourism sectors, with Senator Hollen engaging with representatives from various Nepalese organizations.

Notable attendees at the event included US Ambassador to Nepal R. Thomson, embassy officials, representatives from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), and members of AMCHAM.

AMCHAM serves as an umbrella organization representing Nepali entrepreneurs and businessmen actively investing in diverse sectors in the United States.
