Leaders’ self-correction and enhancement of their own capabilities a must to uphold effective governance: Dr. Shekhar Koirala

JANAKPUR: Nepali Congress (NC) leader Dr. Shekhar Koirala has emphasized the need for leaders’ self-correction and enhancement of their own capabilities in order to establish and uphold effective governance within the country.

Addressing a gathering at an event organized in Janakpur on Friday, Leader Koirala underscored the vital role of self-improvement in eradicating corruption and impunity, and ultimately ensuring good governance.

He emphasized that the restoration of public trust in Nepal’s political leadership hinges on the commitment to bring corrupt individuals to justice.

“In this collective endeavor, we pledge to uphold principles of good governance, displaying zero tolerance for corruption, ensuring transparency, and rejecting impunity,” Koirala asserted.

He further highlighted that this commitment transcends mere verbal declaration; historical evidence has shown that actions need to align with words to be effective. Currently, skepticism prevails among citizens regarding the credibility of leaders’ statements.

Koirala urged all political parties to unite in a common pledge to uphold principles of good governance across the nation. He stressed that the key to fostering trust lies in holding individuals accountable for their wrongdoings and establishing a judicial process to address corruption and misconduct.

“To ensure a stronger Nepal, we must collectively strengthen ourselves and reject external influences,” Koirala stated firmly. “Our path to prosperity lies in our commitment to self-improvement. As we flourish, corruption and impunity will dwindle, transparency will prevail, and the bedrock of effective governance will be laid.”

Koirala further asserted that only through the just accountability of corrupt elements can the foundation be built for a prosperous Nepal.
