KATHMANDU: The 60.789 kg gold recovered from the Sinamangal area after it passed through the Tribhuvan International Airport Customs on July 18 has been found to be of 24-carat purity.
A senior official from Nepal Rastra Bank’s Taksar Branch has confirmed that the gold, retrieved from the vicinity of the airport, has been determined to be of 24-carat (pure) quality.
The team responsible for examining the gold promptly informed both the Rastra Bank and the Department of Revenue Investigation through their spokesperson.
The recovered gold has been delivered to the Gold Taksar Division.
Upon weighing the retrieved gold, it was ascertained to amount to 60.789 kg. The following day, the gold was melted down and shaped into a biscuit-like form, with its quality validated as 999 pure gold.
