KATHMANDU: The meeting of the House of Representatives called on Sunday has been adjourned again.

The meeting of the chief whips and whips of the party called by Speaker Devraj Ghimire and the meeting of the top leaders of the nationally recognized parties called by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ failed to reach an agreement on the running of the parliament.

In both the meetings, CPN-UML maintained that a high-level committee should be formed to investigate the gold smuggling case. The government is also on the stand of not forming a high-level investigation committee.

As both sides did not back down from their positions, the obstruction of the deadlock in the parliament seemed uncertain leading to the adjournment of the Parliament till August 22.

About 60 kg of gold manage to come out from the Tribhuvan airport customs office was recovered from Sinamangal on July 18.

UML has been disrupting the Parliament meeting since July 26, demanding the formation of a high-level investigation committee to probe the issue, claiming that the Home Minister and the Finance Minister should also be held responsible of passing the gold customs.
