PM Dahal returns home from Italy

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has returned home today after concluding his six-day visit to Italy.

The visit, which began on July 22, saw Prime Minister Dahal leading a Nepali delegation to attend the ‘Food System Summit +2’ organized by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in Rome, Italy.

During the summit, PM Dahal emphasized the importance of Least Developed Countries (LDCs) investing in agriculture to tackle climate change and other challenges while enhancing their adaptation capabilities.

In addition to addressing the ‘Food System Summit’, Prime Minister Dahal also participated in the ‘United Nations Food Systems-2023 Stocktaking Moment’.

During this event, he highlighted the positive impact of Nepal’s ongoing mid-day meal program on the health and overall educational development of students.

Throughout his stay in Italy, PM Dahal held significant meetings with several dignitaries, including the Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina, and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.

Furthermore, he engaged in fruitful discussions with the Executive Director of the World Food Programme (WFP), Cindy McCann, the Director-General of FAO, Qu Dongyu, and the President of the International Fund for Agricultural Development, Alvaro Lario.

As part of his diplomatic engagements, PM Dahal also attended a reception hosted by the Non-Resident Nepali Association in Italy, where he had the opportunity to interact with the Nepali community residing in Italy.

Moreover, he held a separate discussion with members of the Nepali Pragatisheel Manch chapters from Italy, Belgium, Spain, Croatia, Portugal, Austria, and Ireland.
