ACC Men’s Emerging Teams Cup: Nepal beats UAE by 3 wickets



KATHMANDU: Nepal defeated UAE by 3 wickets and won the consolation in the ACC Men’s Emerging Teams Cup going on in Sri Lanka on Wednesday.

Nepal reached the target of 158 runs in 23 overs at the loss of 7 wickets.

For Nepal’s victory, Kushal Bhurtel contributed the most 71 runs. Similarly, Dev Khanal scored 24 runs, Sandeep Zora scored 24 runs, Gulshan Jha scored 11 runs, and Rohit Paudel scored 9 runs.

Mohammad Farajuddin of UAE took 5 wickets.

Before that, UAE, who won the toss and batted first were bowled out for 157 runs in 44 overs.

Lovepreet Singh scored the highest 52 runs for UAE. Similarly, Ethan D’Souza contributed 18 runs, while the unwell Valthapa contributed 16 runs. Similarly, except Aryans Sharma of UAE who added 14 runs and Jas Gianni added 13 runs, other players failed to make double digit runs.

For Nepal, Kushal Bhurtel took six wickets, Shyam Dhakal took two wickets and Kushal Malla and Pawan Sarraf took one wicket each.

Kushal Bhurtel has bowled a successful career. He bowled his entire spell and took 6 wickets at the cost of 40 runs. Similarly, Mausam Dhakal took two wickets while bowling 9 overs. Kushal Malla and Pawan Sarraf got one wicket each.

Nepal made four changes in the match against UAE today. While Nepal’s Sompal Kami, Ashif Sheikh, Lalit Narayan Rajwanshi and Bhim Sarki sat on the bench, Pratis JC, Mausam Dhakal Sandeep Zora and Arjun Saud got a chance.

Earlier, Nepal was defeated in the match against India and Pakistan within the tournament. In the first match, Nepal lost to Pakistan A by 4 wickets and India A by 9 wickets.
