JANAKPURDHAM: The Janakpur-Jayanagar broad gauge train service is set to extend its route up to Bhangaha in Mahottari district, starting today.
Niranjan Jha, General Manager of Nepal Railway Company, said that an additional 17 km stretch will now be covered, connecting Kurtha in Janakpurdham to Bhangaha in Mahottari.
The inauguration of this extended 17 km train service in Mahottari will be done by the Physical Infrastructure and Transport Minister, Prakash Jwala.
During the initial phase, the train service was operational on a 35 km route, running from Kurtha in Janakpur to Jayanagar in India.
With the extension of an extra 17 km, the journey from Bhangaha to Jayanagar via Janakpur will now total 52 km.
The broad gauge two-set train commenced operations on April 2, 2022.
