KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) has postponed the meeting of its Central Working Committee, which was supposed to be held today.
Min Bishwakarma, Head of the Nepali Congress Publicity Department said that the meeting has been postponed after the death of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda’s wife Sita Dahal.
The meeting of the Central Committee will be held on 18 July.
Prime Minister Dahal’s wife Sita died at the age of 69 this morning at Norvic Hospital.
The central working committee meeting of the Nepali Congress was pending for a year.
Party insiders said the CWC meeting was likely to witness heated debates over several issues that the country’s oldest party is confronting.
The party held its last central committee meeting on July 11-18, 2022.
The meeting was scheduled to debate several issues, including reviewing the results of the general election held in November 2022, and the local polls.
The party was also set to discuss the party’s role in the Parliament and the government, the ruling coalition, among other issues.
According to Clause 21 of the NC Charter, the party leadership should convene the central working committee meeting every two months.
It should be noted that General Secretaries Gagan Thapa and Bishwa Prakash Sharma have been criticizing the party leadership for failing to address the party’s concerns.
The party had also finalized the agenda for the meeting to be held at the party’s Central Office in Sanepa.
